Education and Technology in the U. S. A.

The leadership needs followers. If the people you lead are too smart they can’t us_capitol_building_clip_artbe fooled anymore. To this end leaders seem to be giving the kids an easy ride in school. They mandate tests that funding and careers are based on ensuring that teachers basically teach the tests and no more. In most colleges the standards are lower than ever and you find graduates having to get jobs they could have gotten out of high school. Education in the United States rates Continue reading

Dear Scientists

Please do not present your guesses as unalterable truths. If you have two partial bones you cannot a whole creature make. It would me the height of luck for your guess(a sin against science) to avoid the effects of chaos. I know you cannot predict every variation possible in nature and thus eliminate chaos.

I can except a result based on all current information presented as such, but when additional information becomes available a true scientist does not ignore it. These results must stay in flux as new information comes along and new results incorporating the new information must be made public. Otherwise you are like those who burned Giordano Bruno and eventually history will judge you accordingly.

World Violence and Religion

A Religious person said to me…What about the Inquisition when we were speaking about world violence in the world.

History is a study of humanities capabilities and potential and often shines a bit of light into the shadows of the future. In that dim light some thing you can see others are less clear and others a mystery even with the light we have.

But it is not about history. It is about now. It is about mutual respect which will NEVER happen with multiple religions.. Religion…all religion…is actually the main problem. The poor deluded fools doomed to an eternal conflict by non-existent Gods! The Bible, The Quaran, the Torah none are divine…would a God worth believing in not be moved to action at the plight of innocents. No reason would justify a Gods’ inaction in the face of the suffering I have personally been witness to. People have suffered from all religions.

Religion is not the only road to morality. Right and wrong is inside every normal person. Generally an a non-religious person will not feel superior to other people. The non-religious person generally feels everyone begins on the same level although there is admittedly some incredulity and pity at the deluded and what they will do in the name of their delusion.

If you have a God prove it. I am of an open mind, in the face of such proofs I would believe. Proofs must where-is-god-sufferingbe scientifically verifiable and repeatable.

I expect the next topic to come up would, undoubtedly be faith. If you truly believe that there is a God then where is faith? I suppose you could have faith that this mythic God will protect us yet terrible things continue to happen in the world.

So the what are the proofs of God or Gods seen by me up to now? I have seen none. The closest I get is the search for The Grand Unification Theory.

What are the proofs against the existence of Gods? Let us start with pain and suffering. We can continue with allowing injustice and not saving dying children whether from violence or illness. Who can prove they have seen or heard a God.

I would like to see fewer people being killed and more people be free. I would like to see money spent on war go towards sustainable energy, disease cures, crime prevention, space exploration, worldwide standard of living, and other wonderful things.

You know an old saying was, ‘money is the root of all evil’ but I think ‘religion is the root of all evil’ after all the very rich essentially worship wealth.

Government Waste and Mismanagement

dumps-716412Folks, I was in the U.S. Army years ago, and I now live close to a major U.S. Army installation and a major U.S. Air Force base. I want to bring up a subject that I find irritating. I realize it is important to have the equipment ready for units to respond to threats. What I see though is hundreds of extra land vehicles, marine vehicles, airplanes that never get used as well as land set aside and unused. When I look at auctions the bulk of the vehicles being sold have low miles and/or hours. I expect there is an excess of nearly all material. There are even Navy ships sitting and rotting. Basically I think the entire federal government is a money pit. In my opinion there needs to be a house cleaning. Unused equipment that can be used outside the government should be sold. If new items are purchased they should replace the old items as soon as possible and old items should be sold, recycled or repaerial5urposed.

Consider the amount of property that is set aside for government use only…is it all really necessary?  Everywhere you look there are areas off limits to the people who actually own them. How much do they really have to hide? What better uses could some of that property be put to. There are even complete military housing areas vacant.

I would not expect to compromise the militaries readiness but enough is enough. The billions in government waste should be a priority issue.

Pondering a Pyramid

Great Pyramid of Gizabuilding_giza_pyramid_bbc_5

The Great Pyramid is said to contain 2.3 million limestone and granite blocks averaging 2.5 tones each and over 144,000 polishes limestone blocks for the casing. There is also a great amount of excavation below the ground level. This was supposedly accomplished starting 1584BC and completed 1540BC. That’s 44 years which means site preparation and excavation, then cutting shaping and placing all those stones. I see artists showing great lines of people pulling these stones up ramps but none have showed locating and placing them. I find the idea of a perimeter ramp that climbs through square corners quite incredible. I for one do not see how 20 – 30 stones a day could go up such a path and be placed. I believe a long single earthan ramp would have a greater volume than the Great Pyramid itself.  Your thoughts?the Great Pyramid of Giza

Space Exploration…Mars and more

The Moon is the next big step in exploration.  I had hoped that we’d have a permanent moon base by now. I believed as a child watching the moon landing in 1969 that we might even get to Mars by the year 2000.  Hurry up guys I’m running out of time!  The ‘powers that be’ need a kick in the pants to get moving.  Maybe if idiots would stop trying to kill each other we could get some real worthwhile work done!  The first company or country to get boots on the ground will be the first to profit from doing so.

Tax Increases

Taxes are calculated on purchased products, and some items have a higher tax rate than others.

So let’s look at road tax.  Usually road tax is the tax on fuel purchases.  Over the years vehicles have become more fuel efficient decreasing the tax revenue because less fuel is purchased so the tax per unit (liter or gallon)  has gone up.  All you see usually is the cost per gallon.

So the penalty for being more fuel efficient is a higher tax rate.

The same thing is happening with tobacco.  A certain amount of tax revenue was being generated by the tax on tobacco, as more and more people quit revenue began to go down so the tax per unit had to raise to keep the tax money coming in.

Now the government is trying to get it’s claws into the ecig market and begin collecting on that.

What are your thoughts?
